Friday tunage

Is this not the happiest song ever? Reason #7408 I want to be Beyonce. And I wouldn’t mind owning those kicks she’s wearing in the beginning.

And because it’s Halloween weekend, I gotta throw in some MJ. I was obsessed and terrified of this video as a child — fast forwarding through the scary beginning and ending. Good god, this video is so great.

Have a great weekend!

Fashion NOW photos with 96.3 NOW

It’s been a good couple months since I attended a fashion show, so it was fun to head to 96.3 NOW‘s fall show slash partay at the Fine Line last week. Local faves, Christopher Straub (of Project Runway fame) and ArielSimone, both showed their latest lines.

A few shots from an uprofessional photographer (me!) with a professional camera:

A look from ArielSimone. Even though I’m not sure what’s going on with the pockets, I still think I need a pair of those pants in my life. They’re supposed to be available on her Etsy site but I haven’t seen them yet. Maybe I missed ‘em? I’ll be keeping a look out.

A look from Christopher Straub.

Ahhh, to be tall, thin and have perfect glowing skin. Another Straub number.

The night was fun because I got to see some folks I hadn’t talked to in a while and drank some free beer (heyo!).

There was also a performance from some girl group that was dressed too slutty for me to take them seriously. I felt wrong taking their photo so I basically held the camera up, looked away and clicked. Not sure how they got invited. Whatevs. I did get some free beer, remember.

To view the rest of the photos (including some of the aforementioned girl group), head on over to Metromix.

Friday tunage

This is basically how I feel come every Friday at about 4 p.m.

Seriously. Why aren’t there dance shows like this anymore? I’m stealing that guy’s move at the 1 minute mark and using it at the club.

Hanson at First Ave: When I lived out my teen dream

I think that if I were to travel back in time and tell my 12-year-old self that in 14 years I’d be getting all up in Hanson’s business while taking their photos at First Avenue…I probably would have peed myself.

I got to live out my pre-teen dream and get to do just that last night (minus the peeing myself part).  I think I’m still emitting red cartoon hearts.

While I don’t have posters of them on my wall anymore, I realized at the show that I am still just as enamored. I have to admit – I haven’t followed them post-Middle of Nowhere fame. So I was surprised to find out they really haven’t stopped making music since 1997. In fact, they put out their fifth album last year. But just a song into their set I was totally reminded of why I was so obsessed.

First – they’re SO DAMN CUTE! Except now they’re more handsome than anything. Not all teen dreams can say that. Second – their songs are so sweet and pure my little girl self didn’t stand a chance back then. And third – they can rock out. I was impressed.

Here are a few shots I took. View the rest over at Metromix.

And now prepare to swoon…

Oh, Taylor. I was convinced I would marry him one day.  There’s still a chance. Wait – he’s married, you say? Dammit!

Sir Isaac. The most dapper of the trio also played a mean bass, acoustic and electric guitar. He stepped away from his mic and stood right in front of me so I could get this shot (that’s what I’m telling myself, at least).  Thanks, Ike!

I’ve been sittin’ here too long, by a man from Milwaukee…

MMMBop!

Oh, that was too fun.

The end.
